First Steps/Intro to Handgun, Basic Pistol and North Carolina Concealed Carry Hangun Courses 
Kentucky Concealed Carry Deadly Weapons Course
 

Kentucky CCDW Course is comprised of an 6-8 hour class followed by range qualification.

The KY CCDW law allows qualifying citizens of Kentucky the opportunity to obtain a permit to carry a concealed handgun.  As a provision of this law, the individual must complete a required training course in the use of deadly force, carrying a concealed handgun or other deadly weapon, and proficiency  by demonstration of the use of the handgun.  With this right comes a tremendous responsibility, showing proficiency with a handgun, knowledge of handgun safety, knowledge of the laws regarding use of force as well as the use of good judgement.  Kentucky Department of Justice approved course.  You MUST be a current Kentucky resident for at least 6 months, have a valid Kentucky ID, Drivers License or military ID to obtain a certificate of completion of this course.  You then can contact your county of residence Sheriff's Dept for an appointment to get your permit.  As the laws are changing, especially here in Kentucky, you do have to obtain a permit in order to travel in other reciprocal states.

CATS Class/Intro to Handgun
 

 

This course is designed to provide hands-on instruction and introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type for small classes with four to eight students.  Our course is 4 hours and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type.

Students will learn the basic rules for safe gun handling, the particular pistol model parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, and cleaning the pistol.  This should be a starting point at an introductory level so that you can build your skills to further your development.  You can also acquire information for additional courses, brochures along with other information you need.

NRA Basic Pistol Course

 

This is an 8 hour course designed for those wanting the meat and potatoes of basic knowledge and fundamentals.  The course includes classroom instruction and range time learning to shoot handguns, whether it be a revolver or semiautomatic.  Students learn NRA rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; one and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol, proper handgun maintenance; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students completing all aspects of the class will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Exam.and obtain the course completion certificate.

NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course 

This course is at least 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.
